IMC Day Meet information

  • We are arranging up to 3 walks per day meet. This means that if you wish to join one of the walks you must contact the walk organiser (a committee member) by email by the deadline in the email. Organisational emails go out after this so, due to the volume of admin work required, we cannot accept anyone contacting after this time.

  • We will only organise day meets though the email system. WhatsApp is for informal meet ups between members. Any contact regarding day meets put on WhatsApp will be removed as this causes confusion.

  • Attendees need to have the ability to navigate independently to a safe level with a map and compass, maintain appropriate fitness for the routes they wish to go on and accept responsibility for their own safety. This ensures group decisions can meet the needs of all participants.

  • Before signing up, please look at the walk options, consult walk descriptions and maps to decide whether the walk is suitable for you. The walk organiser or contact is not able to advise individual members whether they will manage the walk. If it becomes apparent that the walk is not appropriate for you, you must inform the walk contact and group before returning to the start point or using an alternative shorter route to meet back with the group later on.

  • Please make sure you have the appropriate kit required for your chosen option and the expected weather conditions. We have a kit list on the website (under Member Information) to help with this. Waterproofs and a paper map and compass are always a requirement. Please don't presume (or worse, expect) that someone else will provide the map and navigation tools for you. Digital nav’ tools are great but cannot be relied upon at all times so each attendee must have a backup.

  • Lifts are kindly offered by members with transport. The meet contact or organiser does not sort transport but may indicate in the group email that a lift is needed. It is up to the individual to arrange a lift. We encourage lift sharing to reduce pressure on often-limited parking and the environment from club activities.

  • Meet reports help to share experiences throughout the club and highlight club activities to those considering joining. Any photographs or contributions to the meet reports are very welcome and should be shared through the walk contact for inclusion on the club website.
